The Game Boards

Let’s continue the introduction to the individual parts of the Civolution

Besides the continent and the consoles, we have two game boards, the progress board and the sequence board.

They are essential for all players and guide you through the game.

The progress board

The progress board is home of the progress tracks. You track your points in different categories there, during the game as well as in the final scoring. The 5 progress tracks track your points in the categories Technology, Prestige, Knowledge, Construction and Culture. When you climb them up during the game, you get an instant bonus, once you surpass certain key points.

The progress board also includes the hunting table, which is necessary for the module Sustenance - it’s your orientation of how many food markers you earn with your hunt. The board also includes the display area, where you keep different tokens, goal, income and attribute chips as well as dice you can earn during the game.

The sequence board

The sequence board is your guide through the phases of the game. The left half shows the phase sequence. You place the phase indicator there and move it every time you start a new phase. This way you won’t lose track of all the phases and where you are in your current era.

On the right half you can find the weather gauge, adding weather factors to each era. Beneath you can find the event card spaces. They are linked to the weather and are used once per era. The event cards include the „weather forecast“ as well as a unique event for each era that one or multiple players can fulfil at the end of it.

The board also includes the era scoring area, with one changing modular scoring categories in each game.

And last but not least, this board is home to the „Factor of Agera“ track. Agera is your head teacher and master of the pink dice. If you improve your position on this track, you improve your chances when taking a favor test, which can happen and change a lot during the game. It also improves the worth of your statues.

But buildings like the statue are a topic on its own! So read you in the next post!
